Day 1: Melbourne to Madrid
Disclaimer: All voyages in this blog are being taken safely in the comfort of our imaginations - based on our plans and intentions for travel in 2020. What is reality after all?
By the way: look at the Archive link on the left - if that's there (it differs in different browsers) or the three horizontal bars might bring up this menu, this will give you access to past/recent posts to this blog. Or just scroll down to see earlier posts, including the first one from last December, which outlines all the wonderful places where we're (not) looking forward to staying (but hopefully may in future).
Well, it's all going smoothly so far. We're still in transit, so will add to this blog as the day goes on - and of course we have constant internet access.
Everything has been very quiet in our travel hubs. The Singapore Business Class Lounge at Tullamarine was empty - except for us:
our seat on the flight was, as usual, comfortable, and no other passengers to annoy us (by not dressing to the standard expected, distracting flight attendants [who seemed to be absent anyway] from serving our every whim), though the lack of a flight crew was a trifle disturbing:
Transit through Singapore was smooth, helped again by access to the Business Class Lounge there - again, very quiet:
and we're now in Zurich, waiting for our shorter flight to Madrid, again quietly (of course) in the Lounge there:
More to come here when we arrive ...
----
Well, here we are ... through the accustomed deserted airport in Madrid:
and downtown via train and Metro to Gran Via - we were going to take a taxi, but the whole place seemed so deserted, the train was definitely the uncrowded way:
From there, it was a short walk to be greeted at our lovely apartment (front door on the street and a LIFT to our floor) - even with the deserted Erotic Shop next door!:
And now we'll get some provisions in for breakfast at the mini market almost next door (no, not the Exotic Shop), eventually have something to eat ... maybe tortilla, check a Spanish banana split - and look forward to our first night in Madrid:
And still later: here we are at dinner. All wishes can be virtually achieved:

OMG...I love this form of travel! I think I might actually be able to sleep during the flight! And what bliss...airport lounges without people! I can see this travel blog is going to become my favourite very quickly!!
